Driver Age
The age limit is 21-75 and the driver must have had a valid license for at least 1 year (must present it in physical form).
The additional charge for a driver between 21-22 & 75-78 is 10€/day.
Drivers wishing to rent a car from the Standard SUV Manual/Automatic, 7-seater Minivan or 9-seater Van category must be over 25 years old.

Photocopies, digital licenses, learner's licenses and restricted driving licenses are not accepted. If the customer does not provide the correct supporting documents such as a driver's license/ID/passport or credit card (in case of basic insurance) the company has the right to cancel the reservation and not make a refund.
VAT
24% VAT is always included in the final price. There are no additional charges for taxes.
Personal Data Protection
All your personal information is processed by our staff. We respect your privacy and assure you that the personal information you provide to us is used strictly and only for the procedures of our services and for no other purpose.
GPS Trackers
Within the framework of the personal data protection policy of the new Regulation 2016/679, we must inform the contracting tenant that for reasons of legitimate interest of our company and more specifically for the safety of vehicles in cases of theft, damage or any other criminal act, there are installed GPS trackers that are activated 24 hours a day. Their recording will be done discreetly without affecting personal or other data.
Our Company does not transmit, does not communicate, does not disclose personal data to third parties. Our company may disclose personal data in order to respond to requests from courts, judicial authorities, government or law enforcement authorities or where it is required or prudent to comply with applicable legislation, court decisions or the rules or orders of courts or judicial authorities. Disclosures of personal data may also be required for privacy and security audits and/or to investigate or respond to a complaint or security threat.
Kilometers
Within the price of the car rental you are entitled to drive as many kilometers as you want, without any additional charge.
Geographical Restrictions
KretaCars vehicles cannot be transported outside Crete. Our vehicles are equipped with GPS systems.
Additional Driver
The charge for each additional driver is €4/day. The maximum number of drivers in a contract is 3.
Car Make and Model
The term "or similar" means that the vehicle you will receive may not be exactly the same as the one pictured but will certainly be of the same capacity and performance.
Equipment Offered
The company offers child seats of all sizes for the safe transportation of your family. Children must use a special child car seat until they are 12 years old or reach a height of 1.50 meters. This is provided for both by current legislation and by international recommendations for child safety in the event of a traffic accident. Our company is not responsible for any accidents involving children who are not secured in child seats.
It also offers GPS if you wish.
Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, parking sensors and cameras are not included in the car's equipment.
Loss or damage to key/equipment
In the event that the key is lost or damaged, a charge of €100 is applied. The cost for the loss/damage of a navigator (GPS) is €150 and for a child seat is €100.
Renter's Personal Items
The rental company is not responsible for the personal items of renters that are either on board or have been abandoned in the rented cars.
Car Delivery & Return
A company employee will wait for you in the arrivals area, holding a sign with your name, and will lead you to your car. For the return of the car, our employee will wait for you again in front of the departures at the scheduled time. In case of a delay in returning the car at the time indicated in the rental contract, it is advisable to inform the company. After 1 hour of delay, the charge is 7 euros per hour, which you are obliged to pay. Furthermore, in case the vehicle is returned earlier than the expected time/date, no money is refunded.
After-hours deliveries and returns
The additional charge for after-hours delivery or return is 25€ for each movement (Office hours: 08:00-22:00).
At Chania Airport we serve upon request and remotely. For this reason, the reservation must be fully prepaid before your arrival. We will inform you about the pick-up procedure a few days before your arrival.
In addition to the locations you can choose from our website, we can serve in other places upon request (you can contact us at info@kretacars.com to inform you about availability in other places).
Payment methods
KretaCars accepts payments via credit/debit card (Visa, Mastercard), Paypal and cash.
We do not accept the following:
- another person's card (from a person not registered in the contract)
- American Express
- virtual payments
Last Minute Bookings & Reservations
In case you want to make a last minute booking you can contact us to inform you about the availability (08:00-23:00). The company reserves the right, depending on availability, to provide a different type of car than the one of the original booking with one of the same or higher category. In addition, only one booking is allowed per person per vehicle under the same rental conditions (dates, location, vehicle).
Any deviation from the confirmed delivery or return times on the voucher document may result in additional charges, a closed station or your booking may be classified as a no-show. Please contact us for any changes. Grace period: 59 minutes.
Additionally, reservations that are serviced outside of the station's opening hours due to customer delay have an extra charge of €35.
Rental extension
If you wish to extend your rental, you must inform the company at least 48 hours before the end of your contract.
Cancellation/modification policy
Partially prepaid reservation: The customer has the right to cancel the reservation up to 3 days before the car pick-up. In this case, the prepaid amount for the reservation is refunded with a small fee from the bank. In case the customer wants to cancel his reservation less than 3 days before the pick-up, the company does not make a refund.
In case the company is unable to serve you with a vehicle e.g. due to an accident, we have the right to cancel the reservation and make a refund.
In case you decide that you want to modify your reservation please contact us and we will inform you about the charges.
In case the customers inform us about any modification less than 2 days before the pick-up (e.g. customers need the car less days than the original booking), we do not refund any amount.
In addition, if the customer does not provide the correct supporting documents such as a driver's license/ID/passport or credit card (in case of basic insurance) the company has the right to cancel the reservation and not make a refund.
Insurance
We provide our customers with 2 different options for insurance.
1) Basic insurance package:
-Partial damage liability waiver: the renter is obliged to pay in case of damage to the vehicle. The waiver we provide depends on the vehicle category. More specifically:

The amount is cancelled when you return the vehicle without damage and the period for releasing the amount depends solely on the cardholder's bank.
-Personal accident insurance: Personal accident insurance covers the driver and his passengers in the event of an accident
-Third party insurance: In the event of an accident, there is coverage of €1,000,000 for people. The coverage applies to property, people and even animals.
-Theft insurance: The renter is insured in the event of theft, unless the theft occurs due to negligence. Stolen items inside the car (e.g. cameras, travel bags or mobile phones) are not covered by any insurance.
-24-hour roadside assistance: The insurance provides you with 24-hour roadside assistance anywhere in Crete.
-Coverage from uninsured: The insurance covers the cost of damages that may be caused by an accident with an uninsured vehicle.
2)Full insurance package:
-Full exemption from liability for damages: the renter is not obliged to pay for any damage in the event of an accident. The windows, lights and mirrors are covered by the insurance. The insurance does not cover the lower part of the body and the wheels.
-Personal accident insurance: Personal accident insurance covers the driver and his passengers in the event of an accident
-Third party insurance: In the event of an accident, there is coverage of €1,000,000 for people. The coverage applies to property, people and even animals.
-Theft Insurance: The renter is insured in case of theft, unless the theft occurs due to negligence. Stolen items inside the car (e.g. cameras, travel bags or mobile phones) are not covered by any insurance.

Take advantage of the privileges provided by the full insurance package and travel without worries. Please take into account the cases listed below in which coverage is not provided by the insurance company.
Car use
Neither insurance policy covers damages that may occur in the following cases and the renter is obliged to pay for their repair. The vehicle must not be used:
-To tow other vehicles or objects.
-On bad roads/off-road, in sand, in water. Our vehicles have GPS systems installed (read more information above in the "Privacy Policy" section). Damages that may occur while driving off-road or on asphalt/on sand/in water are not covered by any insurance. The fine in this case is €60. Some of the prohibited areas are Balos, Psiloritis, Agiofarango, Loutra Lenta, Tripiti, Koudoumas, Treis Ekklisies, Kolokytha, Krotos. Roadside assistance cannot reach many of these places.
-When the driver is under the influence of alcohol or other prohibited substances.
-For subletting to third parties or being driven by people not included in the rental contract.
-To transport dangerous or flammable objects.
-For transporting more people than their license specifies.
-When the driver violates the Road Traffic Act, e.g. does not follow speed limits, violates road markings, etc.
The renter must always apply the car's handbrake, not strain the clutch and not sit on the hood, trunk or roof of the car.
Any damage to the interior of the car is not covered by any insurance and must be paid for by the renter.
Also, if the interior of the car is not kept as clean as when it was delivered, there is an additional charge of €50.
For any damage that may be caused to the car, the customer is also charged €40 for the compensation process.

Fuel policy
-The vehicle must be returned with the same amount of fuel as received. In case the vehicle is returned with less fuel, there will be a charge based on the current fuel price. Furthermore, no money is refunded in case the vehicle is returned with more fuel than expected.
Fines
The driving of the rented car must be carried out based on the traffic regulations (illegal parking, speed limits), as they apply each time. Otherwise, the renter is fully responsible for the fines and other violations of the car. In case of removal of the vehicle's license plates due to a violation of the Road Traffic Code, the renter will be charged for the improper use of the vehicle. In addition, the vehicle is not allowed to be moved as long as the vehicle does not have license plates. In approx.
In the event that the renter needs a new vehicle until he manages to get the plates back, he will be charged for a new rental vehicle based on current prices. Also, the renter is responsible for paying the fine and our company cannot pay it on his behalf.
Vehicle condition
The vehicle is delivered to the renter in good condition and without visible defects. Any complaints must be submitted before the vehicle's departure. In case the renter wishes to extend the rental period, he must contact the company 24 hours before the end of this contract. During the rental, the renter is obliged to take care of the car and the condition of the tires. In case a platform is needed to collect the vehicle from an area outside of asphalt or if the vehicle runs out of battery due to the renter's fault (e.g. if they forget to turn on the lights) the charge is €50 plus €1 per kilometer to reach your location. The time it takes for the platform to reach you depends on where you are.
In case of damage where the vehicle can be moved (e.g. broken passenger window) the renter must come to our office for a car replacement. If they do not wish to come and we must go to make the replacement, the renter is responsible for the cost of the transportation which depends on the area where the vehicle is located.
Vehicle Replacement
In case of an accident your vehicle will be replaced by a vehicle of the same category or higher within 24 hours. If damage is caused to the vehicle due to the renter's negligence, the company has the right not to replace the vehicle.
Pets
If you want to transport your pet, you must use a transport cage. Damage caused by pets is not covered by any insurance and must be paid for. In addition, the renter must pay €80 for biological cleaning of the interior of the vehicle. If it is a service dog, the renter is not required to pay for cleaning the car.
Accidents
In the event of an accident, the customer must inform us immediately so that we can give him instructions on how to handle the situation. If you cannot contact our company, you must call the police. If the driver or any of the passengers is injured, you must also inform the police and call an ambulance (telephone 166). In case the other vehicle involved leaves the scene of the accident, write down its license plate or take a photo of it. If the renter does not inform our company about the accident, then he is obliged to pay for the repair of any damage that may have occurred.
Tires
If damage is caused to a tire that is repairable, the customer is obliged to repair it and is responsible for its cost. If the tire cannot be repaired, the customer is asked to cover the cost of both tires on the specific axle.
Smoking
Smoking is prohibited in all our vehicles and renters who return the vehicle with a smell of smoke or residue will be charged a fee of €100. In addition, our company has imposed the same regulation for staff in order to maintain the hygiene of our fleet.
